R&M CONSULTANTS, INC. is a well-established, employee-owned multi-discipline Alaskan professional services firm. Since 1969, R&M has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging infrastructure projects. R&M’s Structural Engineering Group provides structural engineering in support of a variety of building, bridge, transportation, site development, utility, and port and harbor projects.
R&M is currently seeking a team-oriented Project Engineer to support growth within our Structural Engineering Group.
As a member of the R&M team, the Project Engineer will manage and perform technical design work, coordinate technical staff and assist with marketing structural engineering services. Technical work may include supporting project-level engineering on port and harbor development projects, including piers, wharfs, mooring dolphins and moorage float systems; structural analysis and foundation designs to support vertical projects; and seismic design.
The successful applicant will coordinate with Staff Engineers and CAD Technicians, perform technical design work, assist with marketing structural engineering services, and coordinate with other groups within the Engineering Department, as well as with R&M’s Geomatics, Planning, Earth Sciences, Construction Services Departments. This successful applicant will also participate in project meetings, client meetings and public meetings.
The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The Project Engineer will work under the supervision of the Group Manager: Waterfront Engineering and/or Senior Project Engineer, in close coordination with other team members.
This position requires a B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline and 3 to 5 years of experience in structural design work. Experience in marine infrastructure is desirable, but not required. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and RISA 3D desired. All candidates should have good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment and strong written and verbal communication skills. Alaska P.E. in Structural Engineering required or able to obtain by reciprocity.
