Maine Medical Center is seeking a Faculty Scientist II - Health Outcomes/Health Services Research in Portland. This position is based at the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), within the Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI). CORE investigators and staff conduct innovative research to understand and improve patient-centered outcomes in health care. CORE’s diverse research portfolio includes grant-funded studies in the areas of health communication, medical decision making, geographic variations in health care delivery, rural health, and advanced methods in biostatistics and epidemiology.
The Faculty Scientist II position is equivalent to an Associate Professor academic rank, and qualified candidates will receive a faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). Maine Medical Center’s partnership with TUSM includes serving as a Tufts teaching hospital, with access to TUSM resources including the NIH-funded Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and opportunities to teach and mentor TUSM students, residents, and fellows.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a health outcomes researcher with a substantive focus in one or more of the following areas: health communication, decision sciences/medical decision making, health services research, or a related field of inquiry. Mid-career researchers with an established program of research and a strong track record of extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications are preferred. Candidates with an MD/DO, PhD, ScD, DrPH, or other relevant doctoral degree will be considered for this position. For physician-scientists, candidates with formal research training (e.g., MPH, research fellowship) are strongly preferred.
