POSTDOCTORAL POSITION - MECHANISMS OF MOTOR SYSTEM DISEASE
A Postdoctoral position is available in the Dauer laboratory in the Peter O’Donnell Brain Institute at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
The successful candidate will take an active role in defining and driving future research in the laboratory. Major areas of interest are defining disease pathogenesis and identifying novel therapeutic targets for dystonia and Parkinson disease. This is an ideal opportunity to participate in the growth and success of an exciting research group.
We are specifically interested in applicants to address the following areas but will consider exceptional candidates interested in pursuing other related lines of study.
Mechanisms of selective neuronal vulnerability. We are particularly interested in using genomic strategies to define the unique features of dorsal striatal cholinergic interneurons that render them vulnerable to dysfunction and degeneration in dystonia (see eLife publications below).
Defining the transcriptional mechanisms underlying dysmyelination in DYT6 Dystonia. We have generated a unique set of tools that will uniquely enable identification of the THAP1 transcriptional complex and to understand transcriptional targets and how they change with oligodendroglial and neuronal maturation.
Dissecting the intersection of Parkinson disease and aging/senescence pathways
