Wood Environmental & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Planner or Engineer with technical skills in stormwater, environmental policy, and compliance services to join our Chantilly, Virginia Water Resources Department. The ideal candidate will have experience with municipal and industrial stormwater programs and detailed knowledge of Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permits, stormwater monitoring, TMDL implementation plans, watershed planning, stream assessments, and green infrastructure management solutions. Experience with GIS mapping, industrial facility stormwater permitting, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development is also a plus. Key Responsibilities - Preparation of stormwater policies, manuals, checklists, studies, reports, assessments, public education / outreach materials, etc.
- Provide technical support in the areas of environmental and stormwater management research, field work, stormwater analysis, and stormwater monitoring
- Evaluate stormwater program and project costs
- Perform field investigations and GIS data processing to support stormwater program implementation, stormwater site assessments, and pollutant reduction plans
- Attend client meetings and prepare meeting minutes
- Coordinate with Wood project team members (and subcontractors when used)
- Participate in local and regional water resources organizations, as appropriate on behalf of Wood
- Some travel / field work may be required (usually in the mid - Atlantic US)
Skills / Qualifications - BS in Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or related field
- 2 - 5 years’ related experience
- Experience using ArcGIS preferred
- Stormwater monitoring and assessment experience a plus
- NPDES / TMDL / Water Quality experience a plus
- Programming experience in Python / Visual Basic a plus
