The Manhattan Beach Public Works Department is looking for a highly qualified professional Senior Civil Engineer who will plan, coordinate, and participate in the City’s Utility Underground Assessment District (UUAD) Program. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the petition and district formation process, preparing and administering the Proposition 218 Ballot process, responding to and fielding UUAD constituent questions, hosting meetings, overseeing the construction, facilitating the overhead to underground conversion process for each parcel, keeping utility agencies updated and closing-out project activities. This position is project-based with a limited term of approximately 7 years.
The Public Works Department currently operates on a 4-day/10-hour work week schedule with every Friday off.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university with a major in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is required.
Training: Three (3) years of responsible professional experience in Civil Engineering or a related field is required. Public Sector experience is highly desirable.
License & Certificate: Must have a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer. If the P.E. Certification is from another state, the applicant must obtain a P.E. Certification from the State of California within three (3) years of employment. Ability to attain a valid Class "C" California driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
