This position serves as a Project Engineer in the Stormwater Engineering Division reviewing site development plans (private or public) related to drainage, flood plains, and floodways. Reviews storm water management systems for development projects and County Capital Improvement Projects. Ensures projects do not create adverse drainage impacts to surrounding existing neighborhoods. Ensures existing county infrastructure in ground is not over-burdened. Coordinates with Southwest Florida Watershed Management District (SWFWMD) for joint watershed management projects and watershed evaluation projects. Prepares reports for Certification of NPDES permits and FEMA Community Rating System (CRS) permits. Integrates stormwater infrastructure inventory into GIS mapping and management. Oversees stormwater infrastructure inventory. Investigates and prepares reports for cause and remedy to the Citizens Action System inquiries and citizen drainage complaints. Inspects and prepares certification to SWFWMD for County maintained storm water facilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field. Minimum of four years engineering experience related to area of assignment. Must possess current Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) License (may consider out-of-state P.E. License, with ability to transfer to Florida within one year of hire date). Minimum of one year as Engineer of Record. AutoCAD experience desired. Valid Florida driver’s license. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
