GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This highly responsible leadership role is responsible for managing the County's Development Services branch and is a critical member of the County's Executive team. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the core team of leaders who work together to serve the citizens and businesses of Pasco County in the most effective way possible. Major departments within the branch include Building Construction Services (central permitting, building inspections); Planning & Zoning (transportation planning/MPO, current planning, long-range planning, zoning & intake); Code Enforcement; and Economic Growth. The incoming Assistant County Administrator (ACA) will oversee just under 300 employees and an operating budget of approximately $39M. The successful candidate will also have a vision for creating growth which produces well-paying jobs and have a commitment to efficient and effective service delivery.This position is being recruited to replace an incumbent who is planning to retire. The first review of applications will occur November 15th so the incoming ACA will have the opportunity to work alongside the outgoing ACA to assure a smooth transition.EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an Emergency. PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field is required. Ten (10) years of experience directing the work of a development services/planning department or branch.
