Plummer Associates, Inc., a leading water and wastewater infrastructure consulting firm is seeking professional engineering candidates to fill several new leadership roles within our firm. A Team Leader is needed for each technical specialty within the organization. This is a meaningful, rewarding and challenging opportunity to lead a technical specialty in one of our multiple office locations. In addition to team leadership, there is a business development component to this role that include market development in El Paso and the surround areas.
Responsibilities / Expectations: The following are Team Leadership responsibilities: - Be an effective leader of people. Communicate well, manage to achieve team goals and outcomes. Be inspirational, be accountable for the team’s performance, and hold Team members accountable for their performance. Mentor and coach others and be a continual learner.
- Possess solid technical knowledge in the technical practice of the Team but is not required to be a subject matter expert. The greater abilities needed are interpersonal and general management skills, beyond mere technical expertise.
- Be visibly involved with leadership roles in professional organizations related to the Team’s Practice.
- Assist Area Leaders (geographic focus) and Practice Leaders (specialty focus) in developing and implementing Corporate Strategy as it relates to the Team.
- Directly responsible for managing the indirect / overhead, and training / development budgets for the Team in that office location.
- Function as a seller-doer / seller-distributor and support the Area Leader and Practice Leader where needed on marketing and business development. Is expected to grow the Team.
- Is expected to be a Project Manager on projects, and lead and direct other Project Managers/Project Engineers on the Team.
- Help the Area Leader and Practice Leader recruit and hire technical talent into the team.
- Metrics for the role will include Project Profitability across all projects on the Team, Utilization of the Team, Quality, Risk and Claims on the Team, Voluntary Departures of Team Members, and Indirect / Overhead and Training / Development labor and expense budgets for the Team.
- Responsible for the goal setting, performance management and performance feedback of team members
The following responsibilities are Business Development responsibilities: - Develop relationships with El Paso area clients and develop a zipper plan to strengthen a broad range of relationships between clients and APAI staff.
- Develop a business plan to establish and grow net revenue of $1.M5 – $2M and a local presence to 6 – 8 staff within 3 – 5 years.
- Is expected to focus approximately 50% of time on the Client & Growth. The remaining 50% will be focused on the People & Talent, Financial & Delivery, and Business Process.
- Will have a personal billable target in the range of 45-55%
The following responsibilities are Office Responsibilities - Directly and indirectly supervise employees, exempt and non-exempt, this includes hiring, training, resolving grievances, scheduling and performance evaluation.
- Implementing and maintaining procedures/office administrative.
- Delegating tasks to interns/EITs and other administrative staff.
- Assist HR, Administrative Assistants, facilities manager.
- Overseeing general office operation.
Authority: - Decision-making authority for Team, related to project staffing, budget and management matters
- Advisor to Area Leader on Go / No Go and marketing pursuits decisions
- Decision-making, in consultation with Technical Practice Leader, on technical and project delivery matters on the Team.
