The Austin Transportation Department’s Transportation Engineering Division within the City of Austin has an opening for a full-time Engineer A, B, or C.
The City of Austin Transportation Department (ATD) is seeking an innovative person to lead our emerging Speed Management Program. This is an exciting opportunity to implement national best-practice Vision Zero principles to move toward zero deaths and serious injuries on the City’s transportation network.
The ideal candidate is proficient in transportation engineering safety, has an in-depth understanding of local and national speed management best practices, is comfortable with flexibility, can work in a bustling work environment, and can effectively communicate with the public and elected officials. This position requires simultaneously managing multiple projects, and the ability to shift from one project to another without sacrificing quality. It will benefit this person to have this knowledge, but at a minimum the candidate should have a strong desire to learn and absorb this information.

Minimum qualifications for the Engineer A position include graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years engineering experience acquired either before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses and Certifications Required: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
