The Oregon Water Resources Department serves the public by practicing and promoting responsible water management in Oregon. This is accomplished through two key goals: to directly address Oregon’s water supply needs; and to restore and protect stream flows and watersheds in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of Oregon’s ecosystems, economy, and quality of life.
The vision of the Oregon Water Resources Department is to assure sufficient and sustainable water supplies are available to meet current and future needs.
Join a collaborative and interdisciplinary team working to promote and catalyze integrated and responsible water management through effective strategies, partnerships, and investments. This position sits in the Water Resources Development Program, which works to address instream and out-of-stream water needs through sharing and analyzing Department data, water planning, funding, and other strategies for addressing complex water management challenges. You will be one of two technical staff on this team of six water professionals, working to help Oregon’s communities, environment, and economy and secure our shared water future.
In this role you will work with staff from all divisions of the Oregon Water Resources Department as well as with state/federal agency partners, funding applicants/recipients, collaborative water planning groups, tribes, stakeholders, and members of the public. You will actively engage with external partners on a regular basis, helping answer questions about Department data, identify appropriate technical methods for answering water management questions, as well as discussing and reviewing the feasibility and benefits/impacts of water supply projects.

Occasional overnight travel around the state. Some limited field work visiting and inspecting water infrastructure projects funded by the program.
