The San Jose State University Department of Mathematics and Statistics has two faculty positions starting August 2020 in Applied Mathematics. In addition to teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, the faculty member is expected to supervise graduate students, to maintain a program of scholarly activity, to work on curriculum development, and to be involved in departmental governance. Faculty in applied mathematics are also expected to supervise student teams working on industry-sponsored research projects run by the department's Center for Applied Mathematics, Computation and Statistics (CAMCOS). The candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
