The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor rank in the broad area of Biomedical Engineering; applicants in the areas of immunoengineering, neuroengineering, bioinstrumentation, and medical devices are particularly encouraged. While we are seeking talented applicants qualified for an assistant professor position; under exceptional circumstances, highly qualified candidates at other ranks may receive consideration. The appointment is expected to begin September 1, 2020.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in 2017. Thus, successful candidates will have the opportunity to help shape the growth of the new Department of Biomedical Engineering. The department will represent the core of biomedical engineering research and teaching at UMass, Amherst and will leverage synergies with other departments in the College as well as with the new Institute of Applied Life Sciences (IALS: https://www.umass.edu/ials/), which was established in 2014 with an investment of more than $150 million from the Massachusetts Life Science Center and the University. IALS manages more than 30 core equipment facilities to enable its translational mission (https://www.umass.edu/ials/core-facilities). There are also avenues for collaboration with the UMass Medical School located in Worcester, MA and Baystate Health in Springfield, MA.
