Performs professional planning work of a complex technical work nature administering the City’s transportation planning process for the Planning & Community Development Department. Performs tasks related to development and completion of comprehensive transportation projects and long-term transportation plans. Work involves the use of considerable independent judgment in applying transportation planning principles and federal transportation regulations to resolve routine and unusual transportation planning problems with minimal supervision and direction. Work is reviewed through conferences and meetings, reports and studies completed, and review of results achieved.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or Urban & Regional Planning or a related field with applicability to transportation planning or traffic engineering supplemented by five years professional experience in transportation planning which includes grant writing/submission. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in the following: GIS data analysis, transportation impact analysis, mobility simulations, planning/evaluation of long-range transportation needs, and/or examining, designing, planning, and managing multimodal transportation systems.
CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:NOTE: All certifications must be current at the time of application, and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.Must possess and maintain a valid state of Florida driver license.An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies required for the position may be considered.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
PhysicalThis is light work requiring the exertion of 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. Work requires sitting at a keyboard for extended periods of time.
EnvironmentalTasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
