JOB SUMMARYThe Quality Technician develops, supports, and maintains quality systems and processes that meet company and customer needs. This position provides focused quality support of manufacturing and business processes to ensure the delivery of product that meet our customers’ expectations. This position will drive successful deployment and maintenance of business processes, tools, and training that contribute to compliance with business best practices. The Quality Technician will influence change across all business disciplines and will team with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Calibration & Metrology – Help to establish, administer, and maintain calibration program. Responsible for calibration, cleaning, repair and storage of various gages and their corresponding calibration documentation. Execute Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R) studies and interpret results to help determine gage capabilities.2. Production Testing – Maintain quality assurance metrics on scrap and first pass yield as well as additional quality reports, files and production-related metrics3. Supply Chain Quality Management – Responsible for preparing and retaining First Article Inspection (FAI), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Temporary Deviation (TD) paperwork. 4. Inspection – Create and maintain vision system measurement programs for use by CNC operators. Maintain and review trends in receiving inspection, production testing and warranty return data.5. Quality Management System (QMS) – Assist Quality Team in implementing a plant-wide, ISO9001:2015 complaint QMS. 6. Document & Record Control – Act as Document Control Administrator for plant. Create work instructions for quality processes and maintain orderly recording and maintenance of both physical and electronic controlled documents and records. Ensure current versions are available at point of use and that obsolete documents are removed and cancelled from system. 7. Non-conforming Materials –Manage a process for marking, segregation and review of rejected materials. Lead team through disposition, data collection, short and long-term corrective action, supplier interaction, reporting, and trend analysis.8. Corrective Action – Help conduct investigative and thorough inquiries to seek root cause and determine corrective actions using 8D, 5-Whys, Fishbone or other quality tools.9. Audit - Conduct product, process and/or systems audits within the plant. Maintain and administrate internal audit program. 10. Receiving – Act as RMA disposition coordinator. Serve as back up receiving inspector as necessary.11. Other duties as directed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:1. Associates degree or related (3-5 yrs.) experience in a technical role.2. Exceptional mechanical aptitude.3. Basic understanding of assembly processes.4. Experience with new product introduction.5. Experience with ISO 9001.6. Experience with ERP systems.7. Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing is desired.8. Experience in conducting or shadowing of audits is desired.9. Ability to focus on both internal and external customer relationships and effectively manage expectations.10. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to manage project timelines.11. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.12. Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbally and in writing.13. Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
