The City of Sacramento’s Community Development Department is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Building Division, Plan Review Section. The ideal candidate will have experience plan reviewing or designing complex building projects using all building materials and construction types. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a mastery of the California Building Code and reference standards, have excellent customer service and communication skills, and have the critical thinking and problem-solving skills to tackle the most complex engineering issues. The Senior Engineer will frequently communicate and collaborate with design professionals, inspectors, engineers, contractors, other City departments, and Sacramento's diverse general population. The ideal candidate will have the required skills to effectively lead a team of lower level engineers, including the ability to train both technical and soft skills. Under general direction, the Senior Engineer participates in the conduct of complicated civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering planning, design, and assessment activities; develops plans; inspects sites and assists in problem resolution; coordinates engineering related activities with other City departments and outside agencies; conducts engineering planning studies; prepares grant applications.
