The University of Stavanger is seeking an Associate Professor in Reservoir Technology for a 4 year temporary position at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Energy Resources.
The subject area for the position is Oil and Gas Production, CO2 sequestration and storage, geomechanics, reservoir chemistry and transport processes in porous media.
As an Associate Professor, you will primarily teach and supervise students at bachelor's, Master’s and PhD level within the subject area, conduct research and disseminate research results within relevant research areas at the department, and contribute to the development of partnerships with businesses.
The development/use of digital and diverse learning methods, innovation, value creation based on results from research, and academic development work, will be included in the position.

The position is organisationally affiliated to the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Energy Resources.
The academic community educates students with relevant competence for the oil industry in the region and internationally, and produces innovative research and technology, which can contribute to increased recovery of oil and gas. The position is intended for an active researcher with competence especially within experimental laboratory research and/or simulation of processes relevant for the subject areas. The position requires experimental and/or simulation work, which can support and initiate experimental activities in the areas of geomechanics, chemo-physical fluid-rock interactions and oil and gas recovery.
We are seeking an associate professor with a PhD or equivalent qualification in within one or more of the following subject areas: geomechanics, reservoir chemistry, petrophysics, formation evaluation, reservoir engineering and energy resources.
Applicants with a specialisation within reservoir technology/engineering will be preferred, but applicants specialising in related areas may also be considered.
You must be able to document pedagogical and didactic skills relating to higher education, and basic skills in planning, evaluation and development of teaching and supervision. If you do not meet the competence requirement, the university may consider to offer employment with a requirement to complete a university pedagogy course within a period of two years. The course will be provided by the university
The working and teaching languages are Norwegian and English.
Your application will be assessed by an expert committee. In the expert assessment, emphasis will be placed on submitted scientific work and documented teaching competence. The committe will also assess your experience with popularisation/dissemination activities, university politics and administration, and any other documented qualifications relevant to the position.
If you do not satisfy formal parts of the qualification requirements, you may have your application rejected before applications are submitted to the expert committee for assessment.
Based on the expert committee's statement, relevant applicants will be invited to an interview and a teaching demonstration before any recommendations are made.

It is a prerequisite that the appointee has a residence which enables him or her to be present at/available to the academic community during ordinary working hours.

The international academic staff conducts research related to energy resources, technology for improved oil recovery (IOR), decision analysis and geosciences. The department focuses on internationalization, with development of study programs in English and high mobility among academic staff and students. The department contributes significantly to the research activities and leadership of The National IOR Centre of Norway, established by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. There are currently 50 employees in the department including research fellows and postdocs.
