The Technology Sales Engineer - Freight must understand LB Foster’s Total Track Monitoring evolving product line, identify and understand competitive landscape, and recognize new opportunities. The successful candidate will focus on the Class 1 and Shortline Railroad markets, targeting the Railroads, Rail Consultants, and State DOTs to identify application and funding opportunities that will ultimately develop into revenue.
Essential Functions:• Tier one supplier for safety accredited approved technology that is capable of obstacle detection using LIDAR, to control safety critical signaling systems.
• Remote condition monitoring (RCM) to be used as a safety critical system. Customizable power (direct, solar and battery) and communications systems for remote applications. Various and unique sensor flexibility including but not limited to:
• Provision of customer information and wayfinding
• Support groups/functions:
• After Sales Service & Support (Tier 1)
Minimum Qualifications:Skills, Experience and Education:• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; Electronics and/or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.• 5+ years total experience with 5+ years in sales or customer facing engineering role preferred• Freight Railroad industry experience preferred• Experience dealing with government agencies (FRA, FTA, Federal and State Departments of Transportation, etc.)• Basic understanding of microprocessor control systems and associated hardware• Proven experience with design and documentation of System architecture• Experience with the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, contract review, and associated terms and conditions• Experience with development of comprehensive technical proposals• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Proven ability to work independently and set priorities to meet requirements for multiple, concurrent projects• Ability to travel up to 50% and from time to time on short notice, including internationally
Other requirements:• Ability to achieve an 80-90% technical aptitude in LB Foster’s Total Track Monitoring product line.• Attendance at trade shows and industry events, as required
