The Department of Molecular and Systems Biology at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to join major initiatives in molecular biology, systems biology and bioinformatics. Exceptional candidates at senior rank may also be considered. We seek outstanding applicants with the capacity to direct an independent, vigorous and innovative research program using approaches that may include computational?systems biology, bioinformatics, genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics,?and especially involving?single-cell analyses,?to understand complex problems related to?cell and developmental biology, regeneration, or neuroscience and behavior. Candidates should excel in both didactic and laboratory-based teaching.
A generous start-up package as well as access to state-of-the-art research facilities will be provided. Individuals will be given opportunities for mentorship and teaching of students in relevant PhD graduate programs (e.g., Program in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences, and the Program in Experimental & Molecular Medicine). Training grants (e.g., Molecular and Cellular Biology Training Grant and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Big Data in the Life Sciences for Unifying Population and Laboratory-based Sciences Training Grant) are available to support trainees in areas relevant to successful candidates.
The successful candidate may, as appropriate, also benefit from associations with the Center for Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (CQBS; supported through a recently awarded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence, COBRE, mechanism); the Neuroscience Center at Dartmouth; the Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC; one of 47 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers); Dartmouth’s supercomputing networks (e.g., Discovery); Dartmouth’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSA; called Synergy); and three other NIH-sponsored COBREs in Biomolecular Targeting, Molecular Epidemiology and Cystic Fibrosis.
