This position is responsible for performing intermediate professional and some technical work involving a variety of general and specialized department programs. Work involves applying professional planning skills to a wide variety of multimodal transportation planning and design problems. The Senior Transportation Planner manages individual transportation projects, works in a project team atmosphere, and acts both proactively and reactively with the residents of the City. The incumbent's work has meaningful impact on the community and is subject to general supervisory review.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with major coursework in urban planning, transportation planning, or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible work in the planning of traffic and transportation projects, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's degree is preferred. Special Qualifications: Possession of (or ability to obtain) certification as a Professional Engineer or Professional Planner such as a PE or AICP. Must possess an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of Maryland.
