The Department of Medical and Research Technology, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland is currently seeking a Program Director for the Undergraduate Medical Laboratory Science Program. This position, reporting to the Department Chair, has a leadership role within the Department. Primary responsibilities include the administrative oversight of the accredited Medical Laboratory Science Program, teaching undergraduate courses, research or other scholarly activities, service to the University and School, and continuing professional development.
Qualified applicants include a PhD or MS degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related discipline, national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist [MLS(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)], and a minimum of five (5) years of clinical and teaching experience. Teaching versatility among multiple laboratory disciplines is desirable. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Medical and Research Technology is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) to offer education and training resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree. In addition, there is a Master of Science degree program with a focus on either clinical laboratory management or biomedical science research. Our education program in medical technology began in 1971 is one of the largest programs in the state of Maryland.
