The Transportation Engineer performs highly responsible professional, managerial and technical management of Transportation Engineering providing development, design, review, and implementation of traffic operations improvements to provide for the safe and efficient utilization of the roadways and other travel needs in the County. Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of professional, technical, and maintenance employees engaged in developing transportation system improvements, including safety systems design, analyzing traffic and pedestrian flow patterns, planning of new or modified traffic control systems and equipment, installation and maintenance of traffic signals, intersection and roadway design, and related traffic analysis and control activities. Work requires considerable technical judgment, initiative, and tact in dealing with the public and other agencies.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in civil, transportation, or traffic engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in traffic engineering, civil engineering or related field, to include lead or supervisory experience. Candidates must also hold the following licenses:
