Overall Job Objective
Under limited direction, initiate, manage, and coordinate transportation planning and implementation with a special focus on public transit and its relationship to other transportation options and city-wide goals. Primary work functions include management of on-going transit operations and programs, including negotiating agreements and contracts, customer service, agency coordination, and transit planning. Also, perform related duties as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Urban Planning or Transportation Engineering and a minimum of five years of transportation planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education/experience. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills. Strong negotiation and consensus building skills. Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of complex information. Demonstrated ability to be responsive and creative. Ability to handle transportation and transportation planning projects which involve politically sensitive or controversial issues. Demonstrated public presentation skills for citizen groups, boards and commissions. Ability to manage budgets. Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Demonstrated sills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels of an organization. Valid Colorado driver's license. Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history, credit history, and acceptable motor vehicle record. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – In addition to the required minimum qualifications:Master's degree in Transportation, Urban Planning or Transportation Engineering. Exceptional experience/performance will be considered in lieu of additional education. Knowledge and understanding of the community, including its geography, politics, interests, organizational characteristics, and laws. Direct knowledge of transit user needs for the successful and safe use of their mode under a variety of weather, light, and traffic conditions is highly desirable. Experience in the field of transportation modeling. Budget preparation experience. Familiarity with computers including database and spreadsheet software.
