This position will assist with the reviews for the proposed development plans and related traffic studies/analysis from an operational and safety point of view to ensure that these adhere to County’s adopted standards and applicable national and state standards. Attend weekly plan review meetings and provides review comments in coordination with traffic engineering team by the due date. Assist with traffic engineering tasks such as, field reviews, data collection/analysis, and review of signalization and signing and pavement marking plans. Assist with performance of traffic studies, and in analyzing/developing signal timings to improve traffic operations and safety in Manatee County. This position will also assist in developing traffic design plans such as signalization and signing and pavement markings using AutoCAD.
Engineering Specialist I - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Prior related traffic engineering work experience, engineering internship, or Engineer-in-Training certification highly desired. AutoCAD experience desired.
Engineering Specialist II - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Minimum of one (1) year traffic engineering experience or may accept Engineer-in-Training certification in place of one (1) year traffic engineering experience. AutoCAD experience desired.
Senior Engineering Specialist - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Minimum of three (3) years traffic engineering experience related to area of assignment or may accept Engineer-in-Training certification with two (2) years traffic engineering experience. AutoCAD experience desired. Prior supervisory experience desired.
