The Seizure Disorder Center in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for a post-doctoral researcher focusing on projects analyzing EEG, multimodal neuroimaging data, and surgical outcomes in epilepsy. The position, working with leaders in the fields of epilepsy (Richard Staba, Jerome Engel, Jr., Itzhak Fried, UCLA) and neuroimaging (Noriko Salamon, UCLA and Paul Thompson, USC), will involve studying intracerebral EEG recorded from clinical depth electrodes and microwires and relating these functional data to structural and diffusion MRI in patients with drug-resistant, acquired epilepsy. Our goals are to understand the mechanisms generating seizures and to better predict seizure outcome following surgical therapy.
We seek a highly motivated candidate with a Ph.D. in neuroscience, neurobiology, physiology, or related discipline with direct biomedical applications. The ideal candidate is expected to have some experience in electrophysiology (e.g. EEG, local field potential, neuronal spike sorting) and computer programming especially with Matlab. Experience with Python, R, statistics, and machine learning are a plus. The applicant would be working on projects jointly with UCLA Neurology and USC Neuroimaging faculty and would be based at the Reed Neurological Research Center in Los Angeles, California.
