A postdoctoral associate position is available for an NIH-funded research project at the intersection of computational neuroscience and intracortical brain-computer interfaces (iBCI). The primary appointment will be in the Applied Neural Interfaces Lab (https://anil.fiu.edu/) at Florida International University (in sunny Miami); however, this is a collaborative project with Northwestern University and the postdoc will interact with groups at both Universities.
The postdoc will lead the lab’s efforts in developing validation systems and decoding algorithms for iBCI applications. The project combines themes in human motor learning, computational neuroscience, and machine learning through artificial neural networks to advance the frontiers of iBCI design and understand the relationship between human users and adaptive controllers. The lab is committed to providing support for professional development by supporting conference travel, workshops, seminars, writing, and networking.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or neuroscience with a background in computational neuroscience, or a Ph.D. in computer science or electrical engineering with a background in neuroscience. Applicants are expected to have substantial experience with MATLAB or Python. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Zachary Danziger (Zachary.Danziger@fiu.edu), with a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for at least three references. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, laboratory experience, and institutional and NIH guidelines. The position is available to start as early as July 2019. Review of applications will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled.
