Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates is seeking highly organized, independent, and motivated senior level engineers for its Portland office. The position will support the firm’s nationally recognized practice in multimodal transportation planning and design for livable communities and expand the firm’s transportation infrastructure design capabilities. Proven experience in the conceptual design and preliminary engineering of BRT, LRT, Streetcar and enhanced bus transit corridors and geometric design of active transportation facilities, complete streets and multimodal intersection design is required. Multi-disciplinary design management experience is also preferred.

Senior Associate Engineer responsibilities primarily focus on design and planning for municipalities, agencies, universities, and private clients. Work includes conceptual design and preliminary design documentation; assimilation and utilization of geospatial information; development and maintenance of drawing standards, methods and production consistency; quality control of design deliverables; coordination with other engineering disciplines including structural, traffic, geotechnical, electrical, utility and others; coordination with client and partner agency staff and associated design requirements and standards; design management activities such as scope and budget development, progress reporting, change management and scheduled development. Additional planning support activities could include research, data collection, spreadsheet analysis, mapping, writing and editing reports, development of outreach materials, and business development tasks. Candidates must be willing to travel.
