The Road Services Division of the King County Department of Local Services invites applicants reflective of our diverse local service area to apply for the position of County Road Engineer.The County Road Engineer (CRE) serves as the steward of the King County unincorporated area road network and is the primary advisor on road related transportation policy issues. We are seeking a leader to maximize investments into the King County unincorporated road network by building and enhancing critical relationships with individual citizens, communities, jurisdictions, elected officials, and the County Road Administration Board (CRAB).This leadership position reports directly to the Road Services Division Director, and as delegated, the CRE is authorized to make decisions, resolve issues, and put forth decisions on behalf of the Division Director. The duties and responsibilities of the position are required by Washington State RCW - County legislative authority as agent of state – Standards.
The County Road Engineer is primarily responsible for overseeing programs and staff involved in road, bridge and traffic engineering programs and projects. This leadership position will be involved with developing the division's transportation priorities, strategic plan, and work programs. The role of the County Road Engineer is to ensure the county delivers projects in a timely, efficient manner, and that transportation priorities are addressed as well as expending public funds appropriately within available resources.The County Road Engineer will:
