Sequoia Automatic, Inc., located in Crystal Lake, IL is a successful and growing supplier to the automotive climate control industry. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This position acts as the primary contact for customers regarding quality related activity during and after product launch. In addition, the Quality Engineer handles investigations of quality issues with customers and suppliers.
Specific duties include:• Participate in APQP launch meetings for new part numbers to ensure conformance to specifications, inspect ability and quality system objectives• Create and/or assist in First Article Inspection Reports & PPAP’s• Assist engineers with qualification and validation of new or changed tooling or parts• Prepare detailed inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering specifications• Analyze inspection reports to determine adherence to drawings, specifications, and processing procedures• Perform RCCA analysis using standard problem-solving tools; such as 8D, 5 Why, cause & effect diagrams, to resolve internal and external quality issues• Inspect complex machined fixtures and parts using advanced measuring and layout instruments and equipment, and visual and mechanical inspection methods• Apply system and statistical controls to prevent quality non-conformances• Works closely with customers on submission of PPAP packages• Resolves quality issues with customers and suppliers• Coordinates with Engineering, Production, Materials and Purchasing on APQP activities• Some business travel required, both domestic and international
Qualified candidates will possess the following:• 5+ years of Quality experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, or Healthcare industry• ASQ-Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent experience preferred• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience preferred• 3+ years programming CMMs using PC-DMIS a plus, but not required• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus, but not required• Thorough knowledge of PPAP and APQP tools (including FMEA, Process Flow, Control Plans, SPC, GR&R, Cpk, DMAIC)• Trained in IATF16949 Quality Management System• Computer experience in using spreadsheets, database, and word processing programs• Experience in organizing and communicating quality system objectives• Detail oriented• Effective communicator, both verbal and written• Proficient with precision gages and measurement techniques for part inspection• Proficient in reading engineering part drawings and ASME Y14.5 Geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
