Sam Houston State University Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a full-time, tenure track Pharmacology faculty member. Faculty will instruct within the foundational sciences courses and be expected to provide instruction using various methods of content delivery including small group, case-based, and other interactive approaches. There will be opportunities to facilitate interactive small group learning in a variety of organ systems courses. Faculty will also participate in curriculum development and implementation, course management, and student assessment including development of NBOME and USMLE style exam questions. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty in other biomedical and clinical science departments to offer a vertically and horizontally integrated curriculum. All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly activity, provide service to the college including student interviewing and mentoring, and perform additional duties as requested by the Chair of the Department.
A PhD, PharmD, DO, MD, or terminal degree in a related field from an accredited university is required. At least 1-3 years of experience in an academic institution teaching at the graduate or professional level is required, with medical school experience preferred. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills in speech and writing.
Note: Although SHSU is located in Huntsville, this position will move to Conroe, TX upon completion of the new medical school facility. The medical school will be located in the Grand Central Park development - just 5 miles N of the Woodlands, and 35 miles N of Houston.
