This position is safety sensitive and subject to Valley Metro RPTA's Drug & Alcohol Program. Applicants for positions defined as safety sensitive are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and, subsequent to commencement of employment, will be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow up testing. The Track Maintainer is responsible for the professional maintenance and repair of the rail system track and right-of-way. Typical duties included repair of rail system track and right-of-way, inspections of track alignment, and operation of vehicles, tools and equipment. The Track Maintainer shall contribute to team efforts and represents Agency core values in the performance of duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and two (2) years of experience as a maintenance laborer including experience performing repairs, inspections, operating heavy duty equipment, power and non-power hand tools, and crane equipment. A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities will be considered. Employment for safety-sensitive positions is contingent on passing a physical examination performed by our examining physician. Applicants for positions defined as safety sensitive are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and, subsequent to commencement of employment, will be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow up testing. Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon the results of a background check. Incumbent is required to obtain within 90 days of hire, and maintain a current valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B) with Air Brakes endorsement. Position requires the ability to maintain insurability under METRO's Vehicle Insurance Policy. Position requires the incumbent to successfully pass the On Track Equipment Certification program in addition to maintaining ongoing education and training requirements of the position.
