This position is safety sensitive and subject to Valley Metro RPTA's Drug & Alcohol Program. The LRV Maintenance Technician I is the first level in a three level series. Performs a variety of skilled mechanical and minor electrical duties involved in performing inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting on all mechanical and electrical systems for light rail vehicles (LRV) and related equipment. Operates equipment necessary for the repair and maintenance of rail cars; documents and records work performed and follows specified safety policies and procedures. The LRV Maintenance Technician I shall contribute to team efforts and represents Agency core values in the performance of duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Licenses and Certifications:
This position supports a 24/7/365 light rail operation and works rotating shifts. Must be available to work weekends, holidays, overtime, odd and unusual hours, and may be called in on day-off or respond to emergencies. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with light rail vehicles and equipment. HVAC Certification.

Physical Demands: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Incumbent may be required to perform heavy manual labor, occasionally lifting and maneuvering materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Work Environment:
Work is performed both in a shop environment and outside in various weather conditions including exposure to extreme heat and cold. Incumbents work is performed around equipment and machinery with moving parts and under wet and slippery conditions. Incumbents are exposed daily to electrical hazards, vibrations, chemicals, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, grease, oil, dust, fumes, smoke and gases and are intermittently exposed to intense noise levels.
