ESA is seeking a Senior Air Quality Engineer or Scientist with 12 to 20 years of project and client management experience and technical expertise in air quality and greenhouse gas analyses with specific work in emissions modeling and assessments. This is a senior leadership position in a growing and dynamic Air Quality, Climate, and Acoustics Group with a state-wide practice. This candidate will leverage existing industry knowledge and relationships to contribute to the Group’s technical skills and business development. Successful candidates will have experience with project and staff management experience, CEQA/NEPA impact assessment, and experience using air quality models such as AERMOD, CalEEMod, OFFROAD, EMFAC, AERSCREEN, MOVES and HARP.
The ideal candidate must possess effective problem-solving ability, client interface and management experience, exceptional writing and editing capabilities, experience effectively developing and managing project budgets and timelines, and adhering to and implementing quality assurance/quality control practices. The position requires project and client management skills, managing staff, proposal writing, experience with public speaking, and knowledge of regulations and standards including the CEQA Guidelines. Candidate must also be experienced in air quality and greenhouse gas impact analyses, health risk assessments, technical memos, and emissions modeling. The successful candidate must also have proven experience serving as a project manager, technical lead, or technical deputy/task manager on large, complex, controversial projects, able to lead medium to large sized teams with attention to detail, and adherence to budget and schedule constraints. Candidate must possess recognized mastery of air quality and greenhouse gas topics and be proficient at public speaking, such as at planning commission or city council hearings. Although not required, candidates with experience in developing Climate Action/Adaptation Plans, preparing health impact analyses, and preparing noise and vibration assessments is beneficial.
Successful candidate should also have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This role requires the initiative, confidence and tenacity to uphold ESA’s strong work-ethic and quality assurance procedures, and to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, team environment. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Sciences with strong computer skills and excellent written/oral communication skills. Although not required, candidate with P.E., CPP, LEED, QEP, etc. credentials is beneficial. Position is located in Greater Los Angeles area (downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, Irvine, or Santa Monica).
