Position Purpose

Within the multi-site commercial group provide technical expertise to take a lead role in projects and resolve complex design challenges. Work closely with Project Managers and Designers to ensure the production of high-quality deliverables. Provide coaching and mentorship to Designers and CAD Techs across all McAdams office locations.

Essential Functions + Responsibilities

• Design and produce plan sets
• Work in accordance with established company standards to efficiently produce complete and accurate construction plans
• Write and assemble well organized design reports for presentation of design concepts
• Communicate and coordinate with other departments to make appropriate plan changes
• Function as a liaison between the Designers, CAD Technicians, and Project Manager
• Direct, coach, and mentor engineering, design, and CAD tech professionals as necessary to provide sound technical advice, resolve complex technical design problems, and to achieve high levels of performance to external clients

Qualifications

• Four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Engineering
• PE required
• 3+ years of experience in civil site design, project management and team coordination
• Strong proficiency in design of water and sewer mains, mass grading, roadway horizontal and vertical design, erosion control, and storm drainage for commercial projects
• Thorough background in civil design, governmental regulations, AutoCAD-CIVIL 3D, plan preparation, surveying principles and construction techniques
• Experience working with client prototypes and standards
• Experience with multi-site retail rollouts and high-volume design
• Candidates should be prepared to provide work samples and/or take a CAD assessment

Preferences

• PE licensing in one or more of the following states: NC, SC, VA, GA, TN, FL, LA, AL, and TX
• NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) license
