The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports directly the Chief Executive Officer and will provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure the proper operational controls, procedures, administrative, reporting, and people systems are in place to effectively grow the organization and ensure its financial strength.The ideal candidate will fulfill the role through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the strategic objectives and core values of RJN.
• Design and implement business strategies, plans and procedures throughout the organization• Set comprehensive goals for financial performance and growth• Establish policies that promote the company culture and values• Provide day-to-day leadership and management of business units and departments that mirrors the adopted mission, vision and core values of RJN• Responsible for driving operational performance, sales, profitability, cash flow and business objectives• Develop and measure the effectiveness of systems, processes, work flows, schedules and strategies to improve operational efficiency • Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of service diversity and geographic expansion growth strategies • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; attract, recruit and retain top talent; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the RJN Leadership Development Program. • Develop and analyze financial performance metrics to ensure budgetary compliance, profitability, and cash flow• Drive project execution and delivery to fulfill client and internal performance expectations • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company• Oversee corporate safety program and ensure compliance throughout all operating units• Assist in raising additional capital at appropriate valuations to enable the Company to meet sales, growth, and market share objectives.
Minimum Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, technical degree or related discipline from an accredited institution • 15 years of relevant experience • Experience building high performance teams• Previous history working with municipalities and the public sector• Civil Engineering• Previous experience within a client-centric consulting or professional services firm• Operations management • Change management • Business development • Proven ability to influence, earn, retain and expand business accounts • Customer centric leadership style• Strong problem solving and data analysis abilities• Ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines as well as adjust to changing priorities • Collaborative and engaging communicator with the ability to work across all levels of the organization, with clients and other business partners • Ability to travel up to 30%
Preferred Skills & Experience:• MBA or Master’s degree in Engineering, technical degree or related discipline from an accredited institution• 20+ years of relevant experience • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)• Previous history supporting mergers and acquisitions as well as other joint venture activity• Experience within the water and wastewater industries
