The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and a fifty-mile expressway, across the State of Maryland. The employee in this position will also: ensure adherence to contract specifications, update monthly project schedules, assign duties and oversee the work of lower and equal level construction inspectors, and coordinate with Traffic Engineering and Authority Operations Center (AOC) regarding traffic control and lane closures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.For education obtained outside the U.S., at the time of application you are required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.Experience: Eight (8) years of experience in technical engineering related work in the areas of design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning. **Two (2) years of this experience must include work as a Project Engineer for large sized highway, bridge, or facility construction projects. **This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Licenses & Certifications
1. Applicants must possess a Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland. Applicants must list the license number and date of expiration on the application.2. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification, in-house certifications or state-sponsored, material-testing certification may be required for some positions.3. Employees in this classification may be required to possess Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) certification for inspection of In-Service Bridges, or have the ability to acquire this certificate within a given time period.4. Employees in this classification may be required to achieve certification in field testing procedures in concrete, soil aggregate and Hot Mix Asphalt within a given time period.
