Job Description We seek to hire a Senior Project Manager in our Virginia Beach, VA office who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing activities on single or multi-discipline projects of moderate to large scope involving architecture, engineering, planning, interior design or other areas of the firm’s practice. Senior Project Managers are also responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of Project Managers. This position will have a primary focus on federal DOD projects. By virtue of the knowledge and experience gained during their years of practice a Senior Project Manager will be capable of successfully managing multiple projects or very large and complex projects to ensure project success. They shall provide leadership and supervision of project support staff and also participate in firm activities to improve the processes and procedures used during the design, documentation, and construction administration activities of a project. They shall also be actively involved in the marketing and business development activities of the company and develop strong professional and personal relationships with our clients, contractors, and consultants to foster repeat business. General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Leading, motivating, and effectively communicating with a project team during scope and project execution
- Working with the Managing Principal and Design Manager to develop and present projects to clients, contractors, project team members, AHJ's, and members of the public through all stages of the project
- Coordinating with clients to ensure successful completion of projects that may involve either new construction or renovation
- Facilitating a professional and successful relationship between client, contractors, and the project team
- Running project meetings and participating in management meetings
- Actively support Managing Principals and Marketing in the Company’s marketing and business development activities
- Preparing contracts and fee proposals for MP review and participating in contract negotiations on large projects
- Ensuring staff compliance with quality control policies and procedures
- Developing and managing project planning, budgeting, and critical project objectives
- Verify project consultants are properly licensed and insured
- Managing the work, training, and vacation of project staff
- Assemble staff for project teams with input and concurrence from Managing Principals, Department Directors, and Department Heads
- Working with, responding to, and taking direction from Managing Principals and senior management
- Mentoring and developing Project Managers
- Ability to travel is required
Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Perform Managing Principal duties as assigned
- Monitor scope/schedule creep for potential additional services
- Provide weekly progress reports to Clients
- Maintain project documentation in electronic form and Newforma
- Assemble and maintain design discipline sheet mock-ups and work plans
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and schedules with input from each discipline and consultants
- Facilitate project team meetings to review project scope, project progress, and schedule issues as well as team coordination, coordination with consultants, and problem solving
- Review RFI and shop drawing submittal responses for appropriateness and completeness
- Prepare draft monthly invoices, 12 month invoice projections and monitor accounts receivable
- Review and approve project related expenses and consultant invoices
- Assemble and review design “milestone” submittal deliverables and ensure completeness and quality of the submittal
- Perform project closeout and archiving tasks
- Schedule QC/QA and “gray team” reviews
- Schedule and/or conduct periodic site visits during construction
