Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a widerange of routine to moderately complex electrical work in the maintenance andrepair of City water treatment and collection facilities. Employees in thisclassification function at front line level, and are accountable for infraredpredictive maintenance to foresee failure of critical electrical components.Routine tasks are performed with some independence, and more difficult workis performed under direct supervision. Objective is to perform field maintenanceof lift stations and other water plant electrical infrastructure on a daily basis.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Performs a variety of journey level electrician work in maintaining City'sfacilities, including lift stations and water plant infrastructure.Responsible for diagnosing, installing, maintaining, repairing and replacingelectrical parts, equipment, motors and electrical systems.Troubleshoots a variety of utilities electrical equipment/system problems toidentify the problem and extent of the maintenance/repair problem andrecommend preventative measures.Performs a variety of routine electrical maintenance and repairs tomaintain facilities/equipment in operating condition and to ensure electricalservice is not interrupted.Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on a variety of electricalequipment/systems in order to identify potential problems to minimizeemergency repairs and maximize the useful life of electrical equipment.Performs journey-level electrical work on utilities facilities, including liftstations, water wells, water plants.Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electrical equipment or controlsystems such as lift stations, water wells, water plants, motors,generators.Estimates/determines materials, supplies, equipment and time needed tocomplete assigned electrical work.
Reviews blueprints, electrical schematics, project plans and specificationsof electrical equipment installations.
Ensures all work is performed in compliance with all current applicableelectric codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
Operates manual electrical and specialized tools, e.g. voltmeters, ampmeters,circuit tracer, rotation meters, etc.
Performs Infrared Predictive Maintenance to foresee failure of criticalelectrical equipment components.
High School Diploma or GED; two (2) years' work experience or equivalentcombination
Licensed Master Industrial Electrician
Licensed journeyman electrician
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normalsafety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and trainingrooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidanceof trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, andtraffic signals when driving.
