The Town of Wake Forest seeks an Environmental Engineer to protect and improve air, land and water resources in the Town in order to provide a clean and healthful environment. The Environmental Engineer will perform engineering support work to include tasks such as pursuing efforts to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control. This work requires a professional knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of engineering pertaining to the facilities and systems used to control pollution and protect the quality of resources and the environment. The ability to use relevant aspects of chemistry, biological sciences and public health practices pertaining to the control or elimination of pollutants will be a major function of this role. Work will be evaluated based on conferences, review of records and designs, and adherence to adopted plans and specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Apply professional engineering competence with specialized knowledge of chemistry and biological science. Protect or improve the natural resources of air, land and water to provide a clean and healthful environment.
Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, stormwater, bio-ag engineering, or other related field, and some experience in the engineering field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) certification for the State of North Carolina is required.
