The City of Lincoln is seeking an entry level GIS professional with some experience (i.e. internship) to serve as its next GIS Analyst in the Engineering Department. The ideal GIS Analyst I is familiar with the ESRI suite of mapping tools, to provide a better understanding of spatial variables in a given geographic location. The candidate selected will be able to create and maintain asset inventories and interactive on-line map applications, perform spatial analysis, is knowledgeable with spatial data integrations involving asset management, permit tracking, and document management systems, and is passionate about customer service.
The GIS Analyst I selected will work under the direction of the senior GIS Analyst or designee and participate in the ongoing development and implementation of the department’s GIS. This individual must be cooperative, coachable, and be able to prioritize work load and multitask with multiple interruptions. Last but not least, the successful candidate must embrace, promote and be guided by the City’s Mission, Vision and Values.
Incumbents receive direct or general supervision from the City Engineer, or other management level classification, and may receive technical and functional direction from professional City staff. Incumbents may directly supervise or provide direction to technical, clerical, and administrative personnel.
Candidates must have any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a GIS Analyst I. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Cartography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, one (1) year of full time experience using AutoCAD, ERSI-based GIS software applications, databases and other relevant computer software, programs, and databases and a valid California Class C driver license or higher with a satisfactory driving record is required at the time of appointment; individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
