The Covey Lab invites applications for a Research Associate position to begin immediately. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to ongoing research related to immunology and neuroimmunology. Responsibilities of this position include: 1) The ability to work independently and use techniques that focus on immunologic assays using cell culture and mouse models of regulated T cell help in health and injury; 2) A knowledge of assays that focus on the nervous system; 3) Contribute to the ongoing management of the laboratory, including laboratory administration and the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
A Ph.D. in a relevant biomedical field is required and experience working either in the immunology and/or neurobiology field is strongly preferred. Experience with training of personnel and working in a team environment are characteristics highly sought after.
Necessary skills include standard molecular biological and extensive cell culture techniques. Experience with mouse work, immunological assays and/or immunohistochemistry of tissues is very desirable. Experience working with primary cultures of CNS cells, including neurons and astrocytes, is also preferred.
