Overview: Located among the rolling hills of southern Indiana, Bloomington is a progressive university town with a strong commitment to sustainability, equity, economic vitality, and quality of life. The City's Transportation and Traffic Engineer manages the Transportation and Traffic Engineering Services Division which is responsible for carrying out the City’s vision to achieve a progressive and balanced transportation system that works for all ages, all abilities, and all modes of transportation. This Division's nine full-time staff members work to improve the City's pedestrian, bicycle, and motor vehicle networks; manage construction within the public right of way; and provide technical assistance to numerous internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education/Experience: Minimum knowledge equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Professional Engineering License with a minimum of four years of work experience practicing as a licensed Engineer. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Training/Skills: Thorough knowledge and ability to utilize accepted traffic engineering principles and practices. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare factual reports and presentations. Ability to provide
