Town of North Kingstown, RI (population under 30,000) seeks experienced individual for position of Director of Public Works. Individual will need to have public works, engineering & survey related work, supervisory and administrative experience.
Candidates who have experience in the following job responsibilities: department expenditures and budget preparation and operation; maintenance operations; personnel costs; capital improvements; road maintenance; water & sewer operations and facilities; solid waste; physical facilities; parks & recreational facilities; snow removal; review of technical engineering reports; accounting records; material & equipment acquisitions; preparation of specs and bidding.
Candidate will confer with, advise and employment subject to Town Manager. Town Manager’s candidate will require advice and consent of Town Council. Candidate will be a member of Asset Management Commission and will confer with multiple Boards and Commissions on administrative and technical issues. Individual will also perform related duties as assigned by Town Manager.
Interested candidates should have: Graduation from college with degree in Civil Engineering preferred or 5 – 10 years of documented experience in public works operations. Knowledge and/or education in the field of engineering. Ability to make presentations, work with general public, elected officials and build consensus. Willing to work extended hours. Experience in working with Planning on new subdivision plots, ordinances, regulations, code changes. Experience with Munis a plus.
