Conducts onsite assessments of laboratory equipment, testing procedures and quality systems to ensure compliance with ASTM standards for concretes, cements, and other masonry products.
This is a first level technical professional (exempt) position within the ASTM organization structure. The position reports initially to the Manager, LIP Training, and, subsequently, to the Manager, Technical Operations or Manager, Inspection Operations, as assigned by the CCRL Director.
Incumbents exercise some discretion and judgment in carrying out their onsite laboratory inspections, but generally follow established work/test methods and procedures.
The Laboratory Inspector I functions as an individual contributor, but will provide work direction to laboratory personnel during the conduct of an onsite assessment.

A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as Sciences or Engineering
Able to travel independently and extensively. Ability to sit while driving for extended time periods.
A valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies
Scientific/technical knowledge of material test methods and procedures and 1-2 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong organizational and job planning skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with fellow staff, laboratory personnel, etc.
