The CommunityThe City of Pico Rivera is a thriving community that offers opportunities to all who live and work in the City. The City boasts a population in excess of 63,000. Within the City's nine square miles, more than 120 developed acres are devoted to recreational facilities for the enjoyment of the community, including 100 acres of local parks. The DepartmentThe Public Works Department is responsible for the engineering, permitting, maintenance and operation of the City's infrastructure, including: streets, sidewalks, roadway medians, alleys, public parking lots, traffic signals, etc. The Department also manages maintenance and public service programs such as graffiti abatement, tree trimming, street sweeping, trash and recycling services, parks and street maintenance, and utilities and facilities maintenance. In addition, the Department Manages a comprehensive 5 year capital improvement program that provides roadway rehabilitation, signal coordination, trail construction, etc.The PositionThe Senior Engineer is responsible for assisting the City Engineer in planning, directing, supervising, and reviewing the activities of the Public Works Engineering Division; and to provide professional and technical staff assistance.Under general direction, performs engineering work and/or plans, directs, and coordinates engineering activities relating to City public works engineering projects; to enforce Federal, State, and local regulations and codes; and to serve as Engineering Design/Construction section manager; and perform other related duties, as assigned.
This position will be required to work non-traditional hours including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on special events, council meetings, and commission meetings.
