The Water Operations Department for the Central Arizona Project (CAP) is seeking a qualified Water Resources Engineer to support operation of the CAP aqueduct system. The Water Operations Department is responsible for directly engaging with CAP’s customers regarding their delivery of Colorado River water, coordinating efficient utilization of CAP’s energy resources, supporting and developing CAP’s centralized control system, and managing CAP’s groundwater recharge program.
Central Arizona Project is the largest supplier of renewable water in the state of Arizona. We operate and maintain a 336 mile long aqueduct and pumping plant system that stretches from our source at the Colorado River to the communities of central and southern Arizona. On a yearly basis, we pump and deliver over 1.5 million acre-feet of water to enhance the state’s economy and quality of life and ensure sustainable growth for current and future populations of Arizonans. In this position, you will provide technical expertise to support the critical functions of the CAP Water Operations Department. Some specific responsibilities include:
Five (5) years of applicable water resources engineering experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or related field; or three (3) years of engineering experience with a Master's in engineering or water resources is required. Registration as a professional engineer is a plus. Individuals with computer programming skills using Visual Basic, C#, and SQL are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of or experience with relational databases and hydroinformatics is also helpful.
