The Clarke Laboratory in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Washington State University (WSU) in Spokane, WA seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Research in the Clarke laboratory focus’s on advancing precision medicine by discovering contributing factors to inter-individual variability in pharmacokinetics and toxicity. These factors include pharmacogenetics, diseases, drug-drug interactions, and natural product-drug interactions. A particular focus is given to discovery of novel multifactorial interactions involving drug transporters (i.e. when two of the above factors converge in a population). This research will increase the precision of drug therapy by accounting for as many factors in inter-individual variability as possible for each patient. Experiments will be conducted in vitro (drug metabolism/transport assays) and in vivo (rodent models and human clinical studies). The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to many projects in the lab through scientific discourse and/or experimentation. It is expected that the candidate will work independently after a short training period, establish and/or maintain lab protocols, and work with graduate and undergraduate students.
