The San Mateo County Transit District seeks a Senior Project Manager (CalMod) who will is be responsible for the overall management of scope, schedule and budget for capital funded civil design and construction projects for the Joint Powers Board (Caltrain).
The Senior Project Manager will manage bridge, track, structures and tunnel projects through design, bid, award, and construction to achieve the project objectives, including: schedule, budget and quality goals, review cost estimates, monitor project schedules and budgets, monitor work in progress, approve, negotiate and execute contract changes, authorize consultant invoices and contractor progress payments, prepare contract scope of work to engage design consultants and oversee design work, track consultant progress against defined milestones and deliverables, oversee design reviews and project phase gates, manage the coordination and communications with all involved parties, including internal and external stakeholders, other agency departments, senior management, consultants and contractors and collaborate with key stakeholders and build consensus.
The incumbent will also oversee scope, schedule, budget and quality of assigned capital projects from initiation to closeout, as well as investigate, negotiate and resolve project issues, identify root cause of issues and determine and present appropriate solutions. She or he will be responsible for presenting project status to Senior Management at regular review meetings, managing a blended team of agency staff and in-house consultants, which are matrixed to the project, coordinating with the Construction Manager, Resident Engineer and Construction Management Staff during construction, coordinating agreements between internal and external project stakeholders that document their obligations during design, construction and maintenance of the project and handing over of completed project to systems integration and operations staff.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field with five years of professional experience in construction project management and/or engineering. California Professional Engineer’s License or an EIT (Engineer in Training) Certification is desirable. Must possess effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Must possess a California driver’s license with a safe driving record.
