Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Structural Building Engineer to join our Structures Group in Charlotte, North Carolina.The position will entail working on structural evaluation, repair, and new design projects on a variety of commercial, government, and industrial buildings and similar structures. Work may also include evaluation and repair of building envelope systems and general consulting regarding building performance. We do work nationwide and occasionally worldwide. Candidate will have opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other Wood offices throughout the company.Essential Tasks and ResponsibilitiesFollows company safety standards and site safety standardsPerforms field exploration, inspection, and documentationUtilizes field measuring and testing equipmentReviews and interprets building code requirementsPerforms structural analysis and design calculationsPrepares client deliverables including field reports, calculation packages, drawings, specifications, letters, reports, cost estimates, and proposalsUtilizes AutoCAD as required to support production of construction documentsInteracts with other professionals, clients, contractors, building officials, and general publicInspects, documents, and oversees construction activitiesCoordinates elements of projects for senior staff; mentors junior staffDevelops client relationships and pursues new work opportunities
Skills / QualificationsB.S. or M.S. Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited program with a focus on structural engineering; MS PreferredP.E. Registration required; Ability to become licensed in multiple states; NCEES record preferred; California PE or SE preferred12-15 years of related work experienceExperience with structural evaluation, repair, and new design of buildings and similar structuresWorking knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs) and other Department of Defense design criteria preferredStrong AutoCAD skillsExperience with AutoCAD Architecture and REVIT preferredExperience with STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, Tedds, and/or other structural modeling softwarePossess effective oral and written communication skills in English; Bi-lingual or multi-lingual is preferredA valid driver's license and clean DMV reportAbility to pass a background check for entry into DoD facilitiesFlexibility to work outside normal business hours as requiredFlexibility to travel as required - Up to approximately 25% travel; primarily domestic short duration (typically one week or less) trips; longer duration and/or international trips are sometimes requiredWork EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
