Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Water Quality Field Lead with an environmental science background to join our team in West Palm Beach, FL. This position required a Bachelors or Associates Degree in Natural or physical sciences and a minimum of 4 years experience field sampling for water quality / environmental low-concentration analytics.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate subcontractorsCoordinate and meet with clientsGenerate professional reports, familiar with word and excel programsCollect surface water samples and measurements following QA/QC protocols and standard operating proceduresFDEP SOP’s, and SFWMD FSQM / SOP’sCalibrate and maintain monitoring equipment, including multi-parameter water quality sondes, automatic water samplers, ground water monitoring equipment, and sediment dredgesOperate computer hardware and software used to record and upload multi-parameter sonde calibrations, field activities, and observationsAccurately and completely document all field activities as required by the FSQMWork for extended periods of time in the field, sometimes remote areas, under hot or cold, wet conditions and in areas occupied by wildlife such as alligators, snakes, and stinging insectsOperate four wheel drive vehiclesOther assignments may include:Groundwater samplingPhase 1 / Phase II Environmental Site AssessmentsWetland DelineationEnvironmental remediationGeotechnical exploration oversightConstruction Materials Testing
Skills / QualificationsRequiredBachelors or Associates degree in a Natural or Physical Science, or related fieldAt least four (4) years experience collecting environmental or water quality samples for low-concentration analyticsPossess general understanding of water chemistryCapable of working independently and with a teamCapable of working with limited supervisionMust be qualified to collect all matrices and methods associated with the assigned project(s)Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the DEP SOPs for sampling and the WQM FSQMMust comply with the sample collection requirements in each project specific Monitoring PlanMust have a general understanding of water chemistryMust be skilled and proficient in their ability to independently:Calibrate and maintain monitoring equipment, including multi-parameter water quality sondes, automatic water samplers, ground water monitoring equipment, and sediment dredgesAccurately and completely document all field activities as required by the FSQMOperate computer hardware and software used to record and upload multi-parameter sonde calibrations, field activities, and observationsCollect surface water samples and measurements following p rope QA/QC protocols and standard operating proceduresMust have the ability to:SwimDrive and/or ride in vehicles over rough off-road terrain, or on levees roadsOperate and/or ride in boats for extended periods of timeWade into water to collect samplesLift 50 lbs.Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyPreferredSkilled and proficient in the ability to collect surface water, groundwater, atmospheric deposition (rain), and soil/sediment samplesExperience in South Florida preferredCompany OverviewWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
