Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer with previous consultant experience in all conventional aspects of the environmental business. The ideal candidate is a problem solver that can function independently with moderate supervision. Bachelor’s degree is required in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline; Master’s degree or some graduate level education preferred. This position will involve reviewing and/or managing moderately complex project tasks within area of expertise or of a multi-disciplinary nature. Some low to moderate level business development/client management experience is preferred.Experience: 5 to 8 years with progressively greater responsibilityLicenses: Engineer-in-Training or recent Professional Engineer’s LicensePosition SummaryThe position will require well developed judgement, planning, organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills for leading and conducting field investigations. The position will be expected to assist project managers in OM&M, compliance reporting, development of conceptual and detailed remediation designs, implementing field investigations, develop engineers cost estimates for construction, conduct data analyses, and prepare written reports of methodologies, findings and conclusions. Some standard project assignments include conducting complex engineering, scientific assessment and analysis, and/or managing tasks of specific projects. The position will be expected to help project managers prepare proposals for potential work with a varying degree of clients. Comfort using standard computer software for engineering applications during project related office activities is required. Knowledge of federal RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES regulations, NJ Site Remediation Program, or PA Act 2 is desirable.Essential Tasks and ResponsibilitiesPerforms and oversees field sampling observations and data collection assignments; These assignments will be performed with minimal supervision and may entail managing a team of personnel for field assignmentsPerforms analyses for specific portions of broader engineering and environmental projects; Demonstrates competency in a combination of areas including field supervision, technical knowledge, and task managementResponsible for making correct interpretations of findings and recognizes and identifies inconsistent or inappropriate results; knows how and when to apply standard practices and techniques to unusual situations; knows when to consult with more senior-level technical professionals regarding how to resolve a problem, respond to a question or take an action that is appropriateAssumes responsibility and accountability for managing medium to large tasks for projects under the general direction of appropriate more senior-level technical professional; develops project strategy and scope with more senior personnelManages and communicates results, budget and schedule information to the project managerUnder limited supervision, represents Wood and interacts in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives while on field assignmentsUnderstands, applies and oversees safety requirements in the fieldAdditional Tasks and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for coordinating with subcontractors (such as analytical laboratories and drillers) while performing office assignmentsResponsible for reviewing client documents or assessing existing site conditions on routine projects or under routine circumstances; All findings of such work will be reviewed and approved by the project manager or other senior personnelResponsible for preparing complete drafts of technical reports, manuals and field reports; All drafts must be reviewed in detail and approved by the project manager or senior personnelIf requested, to participate in proposal preparation (work scope, task-level budgeting, cost estimates), may perform calculations, gather or review information, or prepare standard sections of proposals; All assignments related to the proposal preparation will be reviewed in detail and approved by the project manager or senior personnelMay attend client meetings with project manager and other project personnelMay assist in the preparation of technical papers for publication or presentationExpected to join at least one professional associationEncouraged to develop the ability to prepare technical papers for external publications, and to make presentations to professional or client groupsOther duties as assigned
